LAISA EMPOWERS FARMERS

The Lagos State Agricultural Inputs Supply Authority, LAISA, in conjunction with Harvest Field Industries Limited, has organised a workshop for farmers from Badagry District of the State in line with its statutory responsibilities of ensuring adequate training and empowerment to boost their capacity and improve food production in Lagos.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training held in Badagry, the General Manager of LAISA, Mr. Bolaji Balogun said the government is committed to supporting farmers in the State to ensure high yield on their farms thereby increasing food supply in the State.

According to him, “The farmers will acquire the much-needed knowledge on what and which type of agricultural chemicals to use on their farm produce for preservation but will not be harmful to human consumption, as well as the kind of seedlings that will grow on the farms.”

The General Manager explained further that resource persons conducting the training programme are agricultural experts from Harvest Field Industries Limited (Manufacturers of Agricultural Seeds and Chemicals) and they will cover topics including Seedlings, Land Fumigation, Weeding and Land Invigoration among others.

The participants commended Lagos State Government for the enormous support given to farmers and expressed delight with the exposure to new ideas on how to be successful farmers in Lagos.
